STAFF PROFILE - LITHUANIAN TEACHER
GABRIELE KAVECKAITE
“I BELIEVE LANGUAGES ARE LEARNED BEST THROUGH IMMERSION; THEREFORE, I ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN LESSONS BY SHARING WHAT MATTERS TO THEM IN THE TARGET LANGUAGE.”
I completed a Bachelor's degree in Lithuanian Philology, along with professional studies in Subject Pedagogy, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Semiotics. Having always been a self-proclaimed "language nerd", I started my professional teaching career as a Lithuanian language and literature tutor, where I supported students of various ages throughout their learning, guiding them through national examinations and preparing them for entry into top-rated gymnasiums in Vilnius. For the past four years, I have been teaching Lithuanian as a native language as well as Lithuanian as a second language in both national and international schools here in Vilnius.
I believe that, along with learning the actual language system, it is equally valuable to learn about the social and cultural aspects of the country you are living in; thus, I aim to make the lessons as hands-on and engaging as I can.
In my free time, you would find me immersed in a good book, doing pottery, writing in my diary, or taking a long walk in the park with my dog. Although I love Lithuania, I spend most of my holidays travelling, as I believe acknowledging other cultures enriches us both personally and professionally.
