Duke of Edinburgh
What a fantastic first trial expedition with our DofE group!
Our students truly stepped out of their comfort zones. Quite literally getting their feet (and in some cases, more than that!) wet. While we didn’t complete the full planned route, what mattered most was the determination, resilience and positive attitude shown throughout these couple of hours.
For many, this was a completely new experience and with that came moments of challenge: feeling tired, frustratedor uncomfortable. But that’s exactly where the real learning happens. It’s far better to face these “firsts” now, in a supportive environment, than during the official qualifying expedition.
Throughout the day, students developed and demonstrated key skills:
Orienteering and map reading
Leadership and teamwork
Problem-solving (both independently and collaboratively)
Communication
Supporting one another through challenges
"We’re incredibly proud of this brave, enthusiastic group", Mr. Kellner and Mr. Mantas said. It’s a real privilege to be part of the beginning of their journey. Onwards and upwards!
