“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”

Nelson Mandela

Our secondary curriculum challenges students both personally and academically, encouraging them to be ambitious, think critically, and become leaders. Exceptional learning experiences – both in and outside of the classroom – broaden our students’ horizons, while an outstanding choice of IGCSE options enables our students to follow their passions and talents.

Years 10 and 11 (IGCSE)

In Years 10 and 11, students at the British School of Vilnius study towards their IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations. We offer a broad and balanced range of subjects alongside outstanding learning opportunities, allowing every student to pursue their interests while embracing new academic challenges.

Alongside compulsory subjects such as English, mathematics and science, students specialise in subjects that reflect their individual strengths, interests and future aspirations. Optional subjects include history, geography, computer science, modern foreign languages, music, drama, art, physical education (PE) and business studies. Each student typically studies 8–10 IGCSE subjects, depending on their learning profile and academic preferences.

The IGCSE programme at the British School of Vilnius is a rigorous and internationally recognised qualification that develops critical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning skills. Students are encouraged to apply their knowledge to real-world contexts, preparing them effectively for further education, sixth form studies and higher education.

Many IGCSE subjects include international content and global perspectives, ensuring learning is relevant, engaging and well-suited to our diverse international student community.

The British School of Vilnius is accredited by the two main awarding bodies for IGCSEs: Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment International Education.

IGCSE qualifications are widely recognised by higher education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic ability, and provide a strong foundation for A Levels which are studied during Key Stage 5 (Years 12-13).
